A lot of people want to know what it’s like to call Safe Care Docs. I’m going to talk exactly the way the process is. So it’s as simple as just a call 407, get checked or you can go to the website. But it’s really simple just a call 407, get checked and you going to be prompted; it’s going to ask you what is your close as a code and is going to automatically route you to the closest secured US clinic near you. We’ve made this unbelievably convenient. So we have clinics all over central Florida. Once that call gets passed through, it is going to go directly to the doctor’s office and you just let them know you met a car accident. You call the Safe Care Docs number and you just want to get checked. So, we get you in as quick as possible. Using we get appointments within the same day but we try to get almost everybody in within twenty four hours because we know how critical it is, to get checked immediately after an accident. And on your visits it’s simple; you come in, you fill a little bit of paper workout, we do need to see your driver’s license and a copy of your auto insurance card. The doctor will sit down with you, get a history of the accident, run through some simple test, do a couple of these specific procedures that we do to look for hidden injuries, checks and range of motion, and then basically going to take all that information and sit down with you again and tell you everything that they found. And in that consultation what the doctor is basing to say is this is what’s from the accident, this is old, this is what the treatment protocols for this, this is how long it takes and then we’re going to submit this to your insurance carrier and they’re going accept it or they’re going to deny it. Once we lay this whole thing out, and once you have the evaluation and you’re within fourteen days, we very rarely ever have any problems from insurance carrier. Now if you do decide to get an attorney, then the attorney wants to see the same information and you just let the doctors know when they’ll make sure they get in contact with your attorney and they’ll give him all the information as far as what the injury is what injuries are expert opinion is going to say is these injuries or from the accident and then we’ll write a report and give that to him. It’s very simple. Most people love the treatment, most people cannot believe how simple it was.

Your normal physician, your primary physician might not want to see you back after a car accident, and you may want to know why and the answer is simple. Actually there’s a twofold answer to that. Number one, it’s a different level of requirement and a different protocol that we have to go through, when we deal with auto insurance and a lot of your primary doctor’s deal made mostly with what’s called major medical and to deal with PIP insurance it’s a whole different animal per se than dealing with major medical, So, a lot of your primary doctors or your personal physicians don’t even want to deal with that. The second one is that it is a different level of specialty. So your family doctor, your primary doctor is an excellent doctor but most of the Safe Care Docs physicians have spent an extra six to seven years training for soft tissue injury specialty. So your primary care physician may not be a specialist in that area and just knows it’s better to refer you out to somebody who is a specialist. And at the end of your care plan just give him a report and then you come back to him as a general patient but during the time there, during the time of the accident, they want you seeing a specialist is why a lot of primary care physicians referred directly into the secure docs network.

What’s the healing time? A lot of patients want to know before they start, how long can I expect my recovery to be. Now there’s plenty of research out this for a soft tissue injury which basically means where is the ligament the muscle or in the soft tissue connecting the bone together. If there’s any damage to those areas, then the medicine and sports science and exercise journals all basically agree it can take about up to twelve months for those areas to heal. Now on average for a whiplash injury or soft tissue injury to the neck, spine magazine and journal to be rate that on a seven month healing time. Now most people who’ve been in a car accident, most of you heard dealing with these soft tissue injuries, feel significantly better in the first six weeks of care. So that’s important to understand. It’s that even though most patients start to feel significantly better at least fifty to sixty percent better in the first six weeks, it’s still important to finish out the treatment plan because these soft tissue injuries need to be corrected. It’s like braces on a teeth. Even though you don’t feel the pain, you still gently want to mold those teeth back to the proper position. It’s the same thing that we do want correcting the spine or put the curb back and neck or dealing with soft tissue and use that deal with pinching off the nerves or disc problems. A long treatment care plan can be up to about two years and most of those types of treatment plans are going to include either some type of a pinched nerve or some type of a disc injury or in a severe whiplash case or a soft tissue injury and multiple years can take up to two years. So again, like I said in most of the podcast, it’s extremely important to get an early diagnosis of how bad the injuries are, where they are and then put together a cheer and plan that can show progress or show areas that are progressing slowly.

Does the treatment hurt. This is a question that obviously everybody wants to know so nobody likes pain and nobody likes suffering and nobody likes to waste their time doing something that is not going to be effective. So I just want to be clear with, all of the Safe Care Docs clinics, all the treatments are based on objective documentation, and objective peer reviewed research on how we figure the injuries out. And then we use that objective data to put a care plan together. You know the cure doesn’t hurt. Now sometimes when you have inflammation in a joint, it is a little sensitive to the touch but every one of our clinicians have been trained that if they feel, sense, or apprehension on the patient that we pull back, there’s no benefit causing you pain during the treatment. There’s no pain no gain type of mentality when it comes to correcting structural problems caused by car accidents or causing soft tissue tears caused by car accidents. There is a little discomfort, sometimes when it comes to stressing the joint but if not, it should not and doesn’t have to get to the point of pain. So all of our clinicians are trained highly on how to assess you and how to treat you without pain and if you ever have pain that let’s say goes above four or five on a ten pain scale then you need to let your clinician know because at that point then we come up with an alternative or just pull the treatment back a little bit until you heal up more to move on from there. Most patients during the treatment care plan, when we do follow surveys to see what their level of satisfaction is, where we’re almost at a 99.9% satisfaction rating from clients and patients who’ve been through our programs. They just said that they actually felt like they were in better shape after their care and just look forward to the treatments because the treatments are actually so relieving.

Another question I get is the insurance company keep calling me and they want me to settle my case what should I do? Now, right off the bat you have to realize no matter how nice that insurance adjuster is, that agent is, they’ve been highly trained to ultimate do one thing at the end of that conversation. And that’s to save their insurance company money, which means that they want to pay out as little as possible toward your claim and toward your care as they have to. They have a few shared responsibilities to their shareholders. They don’t not have the responsibility to you. So this is what we recommend for people who are getting calls from insurance carrier, that it’s critical that you see one of the Safe Care Docs and you have a full evaluation. Like I said in the other podcast it’s extremely important to identify specifically what injury was caused by the accident and then once you identify the injury from the accident, it’s your rate on one level severity. So that’s how the insurance works. This insurance works on depending on what the injury is, depending on the factors of the accident, they quantify your case. You know the agents have been trained, highly trained on the phone with you to be extremely polite to almost build a reporter friendship with you. And they use minimizing words. So instead of sharpest reshooting pain, they may use words like discomfort through the arm or the neck and using these little techniques and a twenty or thirty minute phone call they can almost convince, almost anybody that the injury is much less significant than it may be and I’m not saying that this is the case in all of them; this is part of how the training works. When the insurance carrier calls you, they record these conversations and then they can lead you down because they’ve been trained to do nothing but this. And you’re just responding to an accident. You’re having an emotional response, you’re having a pain response and most people who do these calls with the insurance carrier also don’t want to make it feel, make the insurance carrier feel like they’re trying to scam the system or that they’re in this for money. So the insurance carriers can, or the insurance agents can sometimes use that to their advantage to help you minimize what the impact of this accident was. And then get you ultimate to sign off early and signing off early means basically that you’re saying that you no longer going to take a couple hundred dollars a couple thousand dollars upfront and then we have all of your insurance benefits or waive any liability for any future pain and suffering down the road. Now the pain and suffering is obviously something that you want to deal with an attorney. That’s the route you want to go but what we’ve seen patients in as early as two weeks into treatment, the insurance agent or the insurance specialist calls them and gets into these conversations within three, four, five, six, seven conversations and builds a friendship and then basic convinces them to no longer get treatment; to sign a waiver a medical waiver and basically cuts them off. And we see these patients about a month or two later and they’re right back to square one. It’s a mistake. It’s something that most patients regret after they’ve done it.

A question a lot of people have is, how much is this going to cost me? Is my insurance going to cover this? So the way Florida law works, is this that we have, what’s called Pip insurance. It’s called personal injury protection insurance. And the law states that you have to have ten thousand dollars with a medical coverage in Florida so that usually covers most of your auto injuries. Now they also have another law that says that you need to be checked within fourteen days of the day to the accident by a physician or else all those benefits go away. Now as far as what insurance covers is very specific, they’re only liable to cover the injuries from the accident which makes it very critical, number one, to get to a doctor on time. And it’s also very critical that you do go to one of the Safe Care Docs clinics because there are specific tests that you’re going to want your doctor to do, to be able to objectively show whether this injury was caused by this accident. And once you have those three factors in place; getting checked early, getting checked efficiently and getting checked professionally and then being put on a care plan based on what those findings were, then the insurance covers eighty to one hundred percent of your medical coverage.

A question that I get a lot is, what if my car doesn’t have any damage to it, or my car just had a scratch to it, does that mean that there is impossible for me to be injured. Now about twenty five years ago that was the case, a lot of the insurance companies used old data from the cars that weighed two thousand and three thousand pounds and when they hit each other, they smashed each other. Today cars are different; today cars have a different level of technology and they’re lighter. They’re more designed to bounce off of each other. They’re more designed to go for the shell to break off so they don’t actually absorb as much of the impact as cars did let’s say twenty five years ago. Today’s cars are more designed, like I said, to bounce off each other. So when cars bounces off each other, it’s kind of picture two milk jugs or two super bowls hitting each other, they bounce off very quickly. They react at the same speeds and that can actually cause acceleration after the accident. So in today’s world, in this modern world and today’s modern technology a lot of cars literally bounce off each other in the accident to minimize the cost to repair the car. With that little spring, a little slingshot effect, that we see after the impact, can cause tremendous damage to the surface spine of the neck and cause tremendous damage to the ribs and cause tremendous damage to the hips and low back. So even though your car may not have a whole lot of damage to it, it is still very critical to get checked to go through some of our Safe Care Docs specific protocols that we have to find hidden injuries. And a lot of times we see sprain strains, and even this problem, where the car had less than one hundred dollars’ worth of damage or the impact was less than eight miles an hour.

Our common concern like I get from some patients is while I’m little older, I have got some arthritis or someone like me who has played college football, who has significant injuries from the past. Sometimes people feel like that well I got old injuries, you know, they’re always going to say; well, you got an old injury and this won’t be covered because you’ve had previous existing problems before and in some cases that’s true. But one of the good things is that going to Safe Care Docs or specialist like somebody in our network is that we are highly trained and there are specific things that you can do to differentiate old injury from new injury. It’s much easier to differentiate old from new. The sooner we see after the accident. The certain things that we see, we feel heat on the skin, we sometimes feel DMO or fluid into the joints and there is a different level of pain. There are things that look newer when they are older. And diagnostically we can do certain tests to see if there’s fluid still in the joint. So for example, I had a patient who is 45 years old just like me, was very active in sports and had two previous herniated discs and also a couple of springs and fractures from some old sports injuries. Now, his concern was that if he tried to get the treatment for his accident then the insurance carrier was going to say that he had pre-existing conditions and sure enough that’s exactly what they said. So we went back to his M.R.I. results and the radiologist who does our reads for us said, you know what he’s got a DMO in the same area on which you examine you found some swelling and tenderness. So we put these two things together and then his attorney took over that point and presented us to the insurance carrier and sure enough we were able to show objectively that old injury may have been present but it wasn’t his fault that he had some previous injury. He was in a car accident and his old injury got a new injury on top of it. So, again it’s very important to get checked as quick as possible after the accident. Florida law only gives you fourteen days. We really recommend you that you try within the first seventy two hours. It’s really the most critical time to differentiate some of these new symptoms that we see versus old injury.

Another great question I get, I know it’s great question but it’s a common question. It says, Should i see an attorney before i see my doctor?
Now this is definitely a personal preference but i’m gonna ask you this. If you are on a jury and the announcer is saying well, Who’s the first person you called after the car accident and if the person answer; well i called my attorney first rather then my doctor then they may be some level of pre judgement that somebody may have been in this more for the money in the case rather than for their health. So, i use to always recommend that you get checked by your doctor first and here the other reason, why? Let’s say that you want to have a conversation with an attorney and he wants to know well, what exactly wrong with you? He’s not qualified as an attorney to tell you what your injuries are? But once you finished your visit with one of the SAFECARE DOC clinics. You gonna be very aware of what your injuries are ? what’s your clear pen looks like? And that there is gonna be any specialist that you may need see in addition to your primary care doctor. That’s pretty powerful information. So, my recommendation is to always get checked immediately after an accident. The sooner as you can get checked after an accident the easier it is to differentiate new injuries from old injuries.

Another common question I get is this, Do I need to see my family doctor? Do I need to see a surgeon? Now i always recommend you definitely want to let your family doctor your primary care physician that you were in a car accident and that you are seeing a specialist. Now when you come to one of the SAFECARE DOC’S clinic, all of our clinics have relationships in the networks that we work with orthopedic surgeons, neurologist, pediatric nerve surgeons and we work with physiatrist, we work with all kind of different specialist, physiologists, physiatrist we have a very broad network of specialists. What we recommend though is that you do come into one of that clinic for the initial assessment, Now this is critical because the initial assessment like I have said in my previous podcast is that we are looking for specific areas of injuries, hidden injuries or specific areas of deficiencies, Now if you sometimes just go straight to the surgeon, The surgeon can look at you and say you are not a surgeon candidate and then you may have a false sense of O.K I am alright and when you come through SAFECARE DOCS Protocol what we are looking for is let’s find structure and functional problems first and if they need surgery or they look like they may be possible surgery candidate then we will get you to the right surgeon to take a look of that area, This way we take all the stress out of your hands so you don’t have to try to research to figure out what type of doctor you need to see or which type of specialist is best for this. Do the initial assessment and we work with you and we have a conversation with you, We make a decision together about what your next best step is.
